From Professional Basketball Player to Victoria's Secret Angel – Elsa Hosk Talks Fitness, Style and Beauty Must Haves
One of the most prominent faces of Victoria's Secret PINK has officially received her wings.
Elsa Hosk, 26, has been working as a model since she was 13 years old, after her father sent photos of her to a modeling agency. Before she moved to New York City to pursue modeling full-time she played professional basketball in Sweden, her native country.
"It was an amazing time that I'll never forget. It shaped me as me as a person, but in the end, I knew it wasn't something I wanted to do professionally," she said. "I had the opportunity to travel around the globe and explore the world of modeling. It was exciting so I chose to quit basketball and just go for it!"
Outside of Victoria's Secret, Hosk has worked with a number of brands including Dior, Giambattista Valli, Guess, Lilly Pulitzer and H&M.
Read on to find out how to learn about Elsa's beauty routine, how she maintains her Angel worthy physique and her sartorial inspirations.
Big congratulations on being named the newest Victoria’s Secret Angel! What is your favorite part about working with VS?
I love being a spokesperson for a brand that I truly love. All of the people involved are amazing and many of them have become close friends of mine. It's like a little family away from home, and that is so rare to get as a model. We travel a lot and I get the opportunity to see so many things that I would never have seen if I wasn't an angel!
Lets talk beauty: A quick look at your Instagram or editorials and it’s pretty clear you have a gorgeous complexion. What products do you use to keep your skin photo-ready?
I don't have perfect skin all the time, and I really do my best to take care of it. I always wash my makeup off after a shoot. Wearing no makeup, cleansing, toning and moisturizing are my go-tos when I have time off.
What is your everyday makeup routine versus your routine when you’re going out? What products are you specifically reaching for?
I love a black cat-eye, a little concealer where needed and some lip balm in a natural color.
With all the styling that comes with your career, how do you manage to keep your hair healthy?
I always leave my hair natural. It's quite wavy, so I like to put some argan oil in the ends to control it a little.
Any beauty tips you’ve picked up on set?
You learn so much being on set. Mostly little tricks, like what works for your face shape, and which products work and which don't. Armani foundation is flawless and the French moisturizer Embryolisse is perfect for dry, winter skin.
What is something that makes you feel beautiful?
Being strong and healthy. I feel most beautiful after I finish a hard workout.
What are some of your favorite ways to stay fit?
Currently, boxing and barre workouts!
How would you describe your style and who do you look to for clothing inspiration?
I love the 60s and 70s style icons from those eras, including Jane Birkin, Francoise Hardy and Brigitte Bardot.
What's a fact about you that no one would know just by looking at you?
I could probably take you out in a boxing match. ;)
Lipstick or lip gloss?
Smokey eye or bold lip?
Curly hair or straight hair?
Favorite travel destination?
Mexico and Tokyo.
