Miami, Fla. (July 16, 2015) – It’s the most wonderful time of the year...in Miami that is. Miami Swim Week began this week and College Living got a first look at designer Julian Chang’s 2016 Resort Ready-to-wear and Swim collections. Hosted by Ivy, the invite-only fashion show took place at the Ritz-Carlton South Beach. Before the show started, guests enjoyed signature cocktails from Belvedere like their berry lemonade while they mingled in the intimate event space.
Once everyone settled down in their seats, the audience enjoyed a solo performance from electro-pop artist Beca Dreams. A friend of the designer, the singer performed at Chang’s show two years ago. After her performance, an assortment of beauties traipsed the runway in Chang’s designs. Flowing beach-ready dresses, cutout swimsuits and unique jumpsuits were just a few items in the designer’s repertoire. The colorful Resort Collection included lace pieces, bell sleeves and many flowing trains, sure to be a huge hit for any glam pool or beach party.
Following the show, Chang joined the models on stage and gave his best tips on what inspires him and what he sees in his future.
“I’m inspired by my parents and their hard work and dedication,” said Chang. “I’d like to continue to grow as a designer and communicate my art through clothing.” And what is his advice for those struggling with the creative process? “Be true to yourself and follow your dreams. Everything is possible if you do what you love.”
